Plastic and glass media blasting is one of the best ways to remove paint and powder coat from metal and fiberglass. The process is also referred to as "dry abrasive blasting" This method reclaims the blasting material and separates out the waste providing a clean and non-hazmat operation.
Media blasting is somewhat specialized and without much competition. This is both good and bad. Good because we are one of the only blasting facilities in the Philadelphia area and we think "the best" Bad because many people then do not think of media blasting when considering the ways to remove paint and powder coat from metal and fiberglass. Here I have to add that we are number one (1) when it comes to media blasting Corvettes.
We service so many different industries. In our shop now we have part of an order for 500 pieces of HVAC vent covers that need to have 20 years of paint removed. These are for a large multi-story residental building being renovated in Philadelphia. We have motors, transmissions and mounts in the shop that are being refurbished by a local company and they need the coating removed from the machine so that they can rebuild and then re coat them.
We have blasted religious statues, stainless museum exhibit pieces, "pasta making machines" for a manufacturer, hundreds of feet of wrought iron railing, stadium seat stands, car frame for an "Excalibur", 10,000 square feet of stone tile for an Ambassadors outdoor patio, wrought iron patio furniture and other things some of which can be seen on our web site and others that have not made it to the site.
Our process can be taken on the road in situations where we can blast outdoors such as wrought iron fencing or doors. We can also blast inside where we have the opportunity to construct a tent and set up reclaiming equipment at the facility. We recently bid with a company to blast turbine parts on site for a local electric generating company. Most of our work however is done at our shop.
We are hopeful that this blog will introduce the many opportunities to utilize, media, plastic and glass bead blasting.
