Mother nature pulled the April fools joke on us this year- waking up to 10 inches of snow this morning! I'm ready to move south! Anyway, some of you were asking to see pictures of the 1979 Pontiac Trans Am that Ben - my son and I are working on, so here goes.
These are pictures of the car when we got it home. Still on the trailer. If you go to my photo gallery, the pictures are of the complete car, not cut off like in the blog. In the next few days, I'll put more pictures in the photo gallery of the work and how it's progressed.
Until then, I hope all of this snow disappears and spring finally comes. We'll see you in a few days with more pictures in the photo gallery.
My son Ben will be 16 in August, So we bought a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am - A former Georgia car to restore. So for the past week or so, we stripped it down to the tub, and stripped the paint off the fenders, hood, doors, and deck lid. We have completed the minor body work on those parts, and have them in primer. The car was really pretty rust free, with only minor dings. It is a 6.6 litre - 403 Olds motor (I'd rather it would have been a 400 Pontiac) automatic, positraction, and T-Tops. It's going to be a nice ride for him. I have until August 4th to get it done for him, so I'll have to hustle. The motor seems to run fine and has good - even compression so I will wait on rebuilding that for now. We're waiting now for UPS to deliver the hood bird and graphics, then I'm going to paint the base coat, put the bird on the hood, then clear coat the hood once the bird is on. It should help keep the decal from fading or from getting scratched.
Hello, My name is Tom Collier and I live in Hazelhurst, Wi. I was born in Edgerton, Wi.,and when young my parents moved to Slinger, Wi. where I went to grade and high school. After graduation I went to work at Rank and Son Buick in Milwaukee until Uncle Sam needed me and after a 2 year stint in the Army, I took a parts manager job at Sedlak Chevrolet in Minocqua, Wi. I worked there for 5 years, then moved on to work for Oneida County Highway Dept for 27 years. I retired from there in 2006, and having never lost my interest in Classic Cars, I started TC's Truck Parts and now sell parts for 1947 to 1972 Chevrolet Trucks. I've probably met some of you at Iola old car show. I've had swap spot spaces there for years. If you want to look me up they are AS98-101. I also go to the Jefferson spring and fall show-(swap # YG160-163 ) and the Elkhorn show ( swap # SI-125-129 )
I just started a web site about a year ago and while it still needs add-ons and some work, it's up and running. My web site is: TCTRUCKPARTS.COM , so check it out.
i'm sure that i will meet a lot of nice and interesting people on this site that love old cars and trucks, and love the hobby as much as I do.
God Bless, and say a prayer for those serving in our military !
