Maybe these guys have been eating way too many of those Cheese Steaks, but what the heck were they thinking?
It seems that the police in Philadelphia are taking a creative new step in an attempt to slow down motorists: deploying 3D speed bumps. Rather than going through the painstaking task of installing real speed bumps, the Philly police are simply laying down flat plastic "speed bumps" that mimic the real thing, all in an effort to fool drivers into slowing down — at least once.
When you first look at them, these speed bumps aren't very convincing. But if you're cruising along at a good 30 or 40 mph they probably look real enough to make you swerve (and possibly spill some of that cheese steak on your shirt!)
What's next.....a 3D image of a cop standing along side the road eating a virtual donut?

I wouldn't put it off to Cheesesteaks (please note the proper spelling - I'm just outside Philly!), but those Virtual Speed Bumps are pretty "out there", though. Look closely at the photo, and you'll see that the shadows aren't even on the right side of them! Cockeyed ideas can pop up anywhere. If something like this were to happen in Atlanta, would it be the result of having eaten grits too often?
JimActually, I have seen Georgia State Police cars parked along I-95 with mannequins in them, so there are your fake cops!
