If you have ever said that the most dangerous drivers are the young ones, then you might want to read on down the page and be prepared to eat your words.
An 84-year-old grandmother from England was recenly banned from driving until the year 3000...although it is doubtful that she will end up behind the wheel even then.
According to an article in the Daily Telegraph, the less than friendly granny was well know to the magistrage in her local court where she had apparently apeared 78 times over an ongoing fued with her neighbors.
However, her most recent court appearance stemmed from her recent conviction for driving without a license after she crashed her Honda Civic along a busy roadway near a local shopping center.
Apparently her license had been previously suspended for health reasons...although there is no mention in the article if it was for mental-health issues!
In addition to banning her from driving, the judge fined her $1,000.
If you ask me, the sentence was a little harsh. The judge could have simply revoked her driving privledges for the next 10-15 years and pretty much guaranteed that she would not be found driving again during this lifetime.
While I don't want to play cupid, I think that someone should really introduce her to the 78-year-old Aussie who was nabbed on New Year's Day for driving 170 KPH (105 MPH for those of us in the U.S.) in a 100 KPH zone in his hopped up Nissan Pulsar.
According to an article on TheAge.com, the guy was out with a buddy from his local Nissan Datsun Owners Club when he was caught by the local police.
While I wouldn't recommend using this line the next time you get stopped by the police, the guy allegedly told the cop that he was a race car driver and simply "enjoyed the feel of the road."
If you ask me, if this guy is looking for a little excitement, maybe someone should introduce him to the 84-year-old grandmother from England and throw in a bottle of Viagra just for kicks!
So what do you all think...should the courts make an exception for hoons over the age of 75?
