Thanks for the friend request. I'm falling back on the Internet to keep me connected to fellow car-nuts as my odd hours and work schedule leaves puts me out of normal (daytime) automotive social circles. I've got a thing for dusty old pickups, too. I just dug up pics and info on my Holy Grail truck: the Sanford and Son Ford ... someday ... it'll be mine. I've only been up to Iola once, but that was an experience, my legs were so tired from walking afterwards! Happy parts hunting.

Hello Arkieditor, thanks for the friend request and for trying to kick off the forum, I hope it will take off.

I see you are originally from my area, I live north of Decatur and work in Taylorville, and have been in a lengthy restoration of my 1957 Pontiac (pictured). I have also been a long time OCW reader (28 years) and Iola Car Show participant (22 years). Good luck and see you in the Forums, Todd C

    Hey Arkieditor,

Thanks for the friend request. This makes you my first (only?) friend. I'm new to this community stuff so i don't know what a friend should be doing. But, i do know don't try to borrow money that ends friendships quick :).

I found it on Ebay in the Parts Cars west of Springfield Mo. It is a low 5 or 6 in car quality rating (probably not worth restoring). It will stay parked beside my workshop for a while. Here is a web site with most of my yard ornaments:

Thanks for the note. Seems like there are a few people that are now getting out here. The format seems to be all encompasing.

I am just finishing up my '47 1/2 ton Chevy and took it to its first show this past weekend in Beloit - Autorama and won an award adn also got an invite to an indoor show down in Rockford.

Got some great responses from people that looked at my truck. I pop out here once in a while to see what is going on.

Here's my truck web page: www.46chevytruck.com

    Check it out!

THANK YOU FOR THE FRIENDSHIP REQUEST.

I REALLY LIKE YOUR WEEKLY BUT I QUIT

TAKING IT BECAUSE IT, MORE THAN ANY OTHER

PUBLICATION I SUBSCRIBE TO, MADE ME FEEL LIKE SPENDING MONEY I DON'T HAVE. I'D GET SO JAZZED BY THE CONTENT. THAT, AND MOST OF THE AUCTIONS ARE OUT OF MY REACH RIGHT NOW. I HOPE TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH YOUR COMMUNITY, HOWEVER, AS I FEEL CONFIDENT I CAN ADD SOMETHING TO THE MIX.

I CURRENTLY WORK WELL OVER A 40 HOUR WORK WEEK IN THE FIELD OF ANIMATION BUT HOPE TO MAKE AUTOMOTIVE ILLUSTRATION THE MAIN SOURCE OF MY INCOME ONE DAY SOON.

    Matt,

Thanks for the compliment on the website. The coupe still needs a little body work and a paint job, so I'm still working on it. I uploaded a few pictures here that aren't on my website. Not much of a shutterbug when out, so really don't have that many other pictures. Normally don't carry a camera with me. Maybe I'll get a few more later. Just updated the cell phone last month and the new one has a camera in it.

Couldn't resist putting up the picture of the Fulton visor in the up position. That happened about 5 miles away from the Good Guys show in Waukesha on Hwy 164 (was two lane then)in 2005. The semi was going the opposite way and we were both doing about 55 MPH. The suction got under the visor and lifted it up in a flash. Thought for sure it scratched and dented the roof because it made such a loud bang. Really scared the wife when it happened. Knowing the brackets were still holding on the visor I just continued on my way and drove into the show like this. I called it my P15 (48 Plymouth) Reefer. Took it off right after taking that picture. No damage was done to the roof of the car, just bent the visor. Decided to leave it off after that.
