’09 Challenger Brochure Hits the Web

Monday, June 30, 2008, 02:53 PM CST [General]

There are an awful lot of indications that the ’09 Dodge Challenger is gearing up to be a classic hit for the Mopar crowd, and anyone that likes cars with plenty of muscle sleek lines.

While surfing for my Mopar fix today, I ran across the car’s newest piece of showroom lit that is sure to peak the interest of even the most hardcore bowtie and blue oval fans.

Yeah, it’s got a Hemi…and hold on to your seats…it is even offered with a Trak-Pak that looks like it could quickly show you how this car earned its stripes.

The folks over at autoblog were kind enough to post the entire retro-styled brochure on their site.

CLICK HERE to check out the photo-packed brochure.

    The Future of Car Bodies

Tuesday, June 24, 2008, 12:55 PM CST [General]

I ran across a very interesting video today that discusses a new concept car that is being explored by the folks at BMW. The idea is that in the future we may totally rethink the need and use of car bodies...creating more of a "skin" approach.

Their idea totally challenges the current use and need for conventional car bodies.

Take a moment and check out the video here: http://www.baekdal.com/design/automotive/bmw-gina/

We hear a lot of discussion over the need for alternative fuel cars as we move toward $5 and higher per gallon gas...what role do you think that this form of technology might play?

    Pimp My Pierce

Thursday, May 29, 2008, 04:41 PM CST [General]

When you spend your days and nights surfing the Web looking for interesting, entertaining, and sometimes simply strange auto-related stories, you sometimes find yourself lulled into thinking…”Man, I’ve seen it all!

And then, as usual, you find something that reminds you what a crazy, messed up world we live in. Last week it was the “artist” that delighted in smashing two Pontiac Firebirds for the sake of “art.”

Well, believe it or not, it happened again this week.

I was happily surfing some of my favorite auto sites this afternoon, minding my own business, when I ran across this headline: “Pimp My Pierce!: Be the first on your block to own a ’33 Pierce-Arrow with a Chevy 454.”

It was at that moment that it hit me….some people simply have no shame.

OK, so I am not a “purist.” I get a thrill out of hot rods, resto mods, and just about any unique pile of iron that a guy can weld together and slap an engine in, but this was simply too much for me to stomach.

Who knows, maybe it was the combination of a CD-player, wire-wheels and "Cold" air conditioning on a '33 Pierce-Arrow that pushed me over the top.

SO…take a deep breath, say a few last minute prayer’s for strength and click here to see what happens when you let a total goofball with too much money and free time, near a perfectly nice classic car…Who knows, maybe next week I’ll find a sweet Duesenberg that has been chopped, channeled and has a bored-out 327 under it’s hood.

What is the worst custom/combination you’ve ran across?

    Cruising the Corn Fields

Friday, May 23, 2008, 07:27 AM CST [General]

Well, it looks like it has happened again. Winter has finally passed us by and Summer is upon us. Having survived our first Wisconsin winter since leaving Arkansas, I know that my family is glad to see the warmer days ahead.

For this year's memorial day weekend we have headed down to Illinois where we will be firing up the grill and spending a little time with our families (both the in-laws and the out-laws).

Despite the nearly $4 a gallon gas prices, it had been over 6 months since we had made the journey and to keep from being marked off of everyone's Chrismas card lists, we bit the bullet and hit the road.

While I'd hoped to swing by a couple of car shows over the holiday weekend, it simply doesn't look like things are going to work out in my favor.

Despite having checked out the Old Cars Weekly online calendars before hitting the road, I'm afraid that we won't be in the right place at the right time.

The guys over at Mid-America Motorworks are getting ready again for the 10th Annual Funfest for air cooled VW's, which is nearly next door to where I grew up, but it looks like I will have to be back in the office before the fun begins. Maybe next year...

What is on your agenda for this holiday weekend?
