1986 Olds Cutlass Supreme coupe VIN 1G3GR47A4GP300037
This 3.8 liter-powered Olds Cutlass Supreme was purchased as yet another winter beater. It was also the first time I junked a car. It drove well enough until spring, when I started hearing a funny noise underneath. I had a good idea what it was, andsure enough, it turned out to be the flywheel, which was cracked. I started hearing the noise while driving back to Minnesota from central Wisconsin, but it made it to St. Paul. Upon confirming the mechanical ailment at my parentsā Minnesota home, I junked it. The dark blue body was actually solid for this part of the country, as were the rear frame rails, so I kept the front clip and junked the rest. I probably should have kept it and performed an engine swap, but I had too many other projects. The hulk ended up at A&F Auto Parts in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, one of my favorite salvage yard haunts before I moved to Wisconsin. I heard it was parked by the two-tone silver 1982 Caprice coupe I had sold to a friend much earlier, which he junked after it served its use. Anyone turn it into a street warrior? Is it still at A and F Auto Parts? Is the yard even there anymore? 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme http://community.oldcarsweekly.com/www.oldcarsweekly.com/gallery/view_gallery.one?gal_id=1 |
