Reader David Alverson of Appleton, Wis. provided the photos for this mystery car. According to Alverson, the photos were taken in the late 1970s or early 1980s while the car was parked at a small garage at the corner of Highway 10 and County Highway D between Appleton and Forest Junction. While the identity could not be determined (there were no emblems on the body), Alverson does know the car had an aluminum body and the price was $10,000 at the time. Was it a coachbuilt creation, or a custom job? If it's a custom job, can you identify the base car and/or the source of the body parts? It appears the car is a two-door fastback, and the relatively short wheelbase coupled with manner in which the body extends to the rear of the car, makes it appear very European. However, the "frog eye" headlamps are very Pierce-Arrow in nature and the grille and hood panels are likewise American. Also noteworthy are the centers on the Buffalo-style wire wheels; though hexagonal, they are not Packard. Perhaps also Pierce? |

This one really has me stumped. I am thinking a Euro make? (If it's not Pierce-based.) |

Definitely looks like a 1930's Coupe but I'm still checking the other parts, for some of it are from chrysler parts and packard... |

It looks like the front end and grill have been extended? Could this possibly be because it has FWD, maybe something built from a Hollywood? Hood looks pierce to packard style. Rear part of main body, cowl back, kind of reminds me of a cord? The front end clip looks to be steel, lots of surface rust showing. Definetly a different car !!!! John |
