Dear Old Cars Weekly Staff: In the Oct., Nov., or Dec. issue of Old Cars Weekly there had been a couple page article on the fourth or fifth page about a junkyard in the Rockford area of Illinois. I seemed to have misplaced the issue. I was wondering if you could pass along the name and phone number of the owner of the wrecking yard and the name of the yard itself. Also, if you find it, I would also appreciate to know what issue it was in.I've been reading Old Cars Weekly for a number of years now and I would just like to say: keep up the good work. Thanks,Sam

Sam,I'll take a look Monday morning when I get into the office, if i can't find it, I can pretty much guarantee that Ron will remember it right away. I'll get back with you as soon as I have the info for you.

According to Ron...The yard HQ and one of its four locations is in Tonica, Ill. Just off I-51. Part of the yard is located near LaSalle, Ill., just off the offramp of Hwy. 6 and I-51. If I remember, it’s Ace Salvage, but this ran last summer some time and I did the yard early in 2007 and the memory fades a bit....
I ran a quick Google search for Ace Salvage and came up with (815) 442-8224 as a phone number. Hope this helps, Matt |

Hi, A little while back, you did an article on a salvage yard in Las Vegas, New Mexico. I misplaced that issue, and I would like to contact them. Can you tell me what issue it was in, and also the name and number of the yard! Thanks,Don

Hey Sam, Love the Skylark avatar -- is that a 1968 or 1969 (it's too small to tell, but I think it's a 1968). I drove a 1969 in high school and missed it so much in college I bought a 1968, but it wasn't the same and sold it soon after. Sure would love to find that old green '69 I had. |
