    This car is my destiny!

    Thursday, March 19, 2009, 04:54 PM [General]

I don't know where in the world this car is, or the name of the fine gentleman driving it, but in my lifetime I will track this car down and I will own it.

This car is meant for me. I must have it.

Whoa! $A 5.5-million Mustang saved from fire!

    Thursday, March 5, 2009, 10:02 AM [General]

I'm really surprised this didn't get more play in the mainstream media. It's in the March 12 issue of Old Cars Weekly, but it was news to me.

Not only is this dealership listing the historic Mustang for sale for $5.5 million, they have a lot of other very exensive cars in their showroom that could also have gone up in flames.

This would have been a HUGE story if a bunch of these cars had burned.

"A working smoke alarm and fast-acting firerighters recently saved a prized car collection in Illinois.

The Wauconda Fire Department preserved millions of dollars in vintage cars and memorabilia Feb. 9 after a fire started at Northern Illinois Classic Auto.

Authorities said the Wauconda Fire Department responded to the working fire alarm at 7:34 p.m. and found a fire burning under the hood of a 1968 Oldsmobile. The blaze was quickly extinguished and no other cars caught fire.

Initial damages to the building were about $250,000, according to published reports.
Among the cars that were saved from the flames was the first Mustang ever built — a 1964 1/2 convertible that is also billed as the first Mustang ever sold to the public.

M-B taking the fun out of the "Gullwing"

    Tuesday, March 3, 2009, 01:23 PM [General]

So Mercedes-Benz is finally going to join the crowd and go retro by dusting off the 300SL nameplate.

That sounds like a great idea, but geez, they are going to make a $250,000 super car?

What, what what what what what what what?

I gotta believe they missed the boat bad on this one. They are going to make that baby out of reach of 99.99999 percent of the population. Why??

I dunno. I don't get it. Why would you want to take such a valuable brand and make turn it into something unobtainable?

Ford has sold a boatload of Mustangs the past few years by making them affordable. Not that M-B needs to make the new 300SL a $30k car, but a QUARTER MILLION?? I'll bet hardly anybody buys 'em and they disappear again in a couple years. The guys test-driving new Porsches, BMWs and maybe even Corvettes who might have been interested won't even be able to afford a quarter-mil.

M-B is gonna swing and miss on this one, but it won't be the first time.

Man, look out if you have a '66 Mustang

    Thursday, February 19, 2009, 05:19 PM [General]

Geez, time to get "The Club" if you own a 1966 Mustang these days.

Found these little bits floating in cyberspace this week:

Corpus Christi police are looking for a 1966 Ford Mustang that was stolen from a storage unit early Tuesday.

At 8:37 a.m., the owner of the Mustang reported the theft to police. The owner said vehicle was in vintage condition, is maroon with white interior and has a Texas license plate #5BZ732 or Antique tag E759.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential and the caller will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.

    ------

Another 1966 Mustang was stolen from a detached garage recently in Selden, NY. The thieves, police said, took the car, placed it on a red flatbed truck and hauled it away.

The car is a blue with a white top.

Police describe the suspects as two men -- one, in his 40s, with a thin build, long hair and a mustache; the second, in his 30s, bald with a stocky build and wearing a black leather coat. A white van was also seen leaving the scene of the theft.

    ----

A black with red interior 1966 Mustang was in the Tuscon, AZ area near Summit Elementary School on Feb. 10 between 7 and 10 pm. According to the owner, the transmission blew he went home to get a truck to tow it. Before he got back, the car was gone. Anybody who knows anything can call Dan at 304-7959. The driver side seat has a large tear in it.
